#ForTheKids
November 5, 2020

The nation remains 'at a standstill' as we decide whom is currently overseeing the largest superpower in the world. What's more frightening is that there seems to be a MAJOR travesty happening behind the scenes throughout every American home, yet BOTH parties seem to be entirely avoiding this subject.

The subject is, our children... MILLIONS of children have been sitting at home for the entire school year, bumbling through cryptic Zoom calls, staring at computer monitors, completely bored out of their minds, while dearly missing their friends and their connection to the outside world. It's happening throughout every home in USA and beyond, it's been going on WAY too long, and we need a soltution... QUICKLY.

We have literally FORCED all children to now 'sit in the corner' with DUNCE caps on ALL YEAR without any thought whatsoever as to how this will affect their psyche?

How will it impact their learning?

How de-motivating is this for our childrens future?

How will this experience impact children long-term?

I remember when I was 12 years old... growing up in San Diego was an amazing experience. My school was ten blocks from my house and every morning I would walk to school, picking up my buddies on the way, and sharing my latest crazy ideas with them (test my home made parachute anyone?).

I got on the computer sometimes (to program simple games in BASIC), but my studies were mainly in class, with my teacher talking and sharing knowledge with my classmates and myself. Computer time was limited so I could form real-world relationships with my peers and learn how the world around me works. Instead of Googling it, I simply did it... I was fearless, I was bold, I was not afraid of anything. I'd ride my bike 20 miles to find the best surf spots and return home for dinner by the time street lights came on (or my mother would 'ground' me). LOL

School was fun, but going to class and having teachers in the room with kids meant that I could, for example, not play with my R2-D2 while they were lecturing. I was in school to focus/learn and being able to ineract with my teachers and peers directly was key to my understanding the world AND taught me discipline.

Nowadays though, that connection is severed completely... I understand that 'times are different for kids' and 'helicopter parents' have it all under control. But do they?

Jonny is strapped to a desktop computer (or iPad), a mouse is glued to his hand, he is given a box of cereal and a water bottle, then told to "listen to your teacher" and "don't get off this computer".

The few kids I have seen sice the lockdown are completely different children than I met a year ago. Kids now just look so sad, so bored, so defeated that it truly disheartens me becuase I know they are our planet's future and we are doing NOTHING to show them the way.

If I was a loving parent, my child would be my FIRST and MAIN priority right now during this crisis. There is nothing else tangible for many to hold on to, but everyone can get onboard to help kids.

I would focus serious time and attention to coming up with solutions for our children and their education/future. While politicians sit there on CNN saying "We got everything under control", PARENTS should take control of their own children.

However, for whetever reason... parents are doing NOTHING, Why is that? Out of fear? Fear of what exactly?

I would demand to know "Why is my kids school not open?"

I would paint signs around my local neighborhood asking this question BIG AND BOLD.

I would get all LOCAL mother's together one night a week to brainstorm (father's too, whomever!).

I would invite local pediatricians/doctors to share science-based facts about 'covid and youth' to provide solid numbers to help create safe solutions.

I would demand that local school principals and advisory board members explain exactly "why schools are not open?"

Once local schools, teachers, advisors, doctors, and parents had a solution to get children back to school safely, I would FORCE local governments to take action.

It all seems so logical to me, yet I feel that nobody cares enough to do anything... ESPECIALLY THE PARENTS! I have not seen ONE rally for children, but how many have I seen for BLM?

WHEN will parents care enough about their own children to ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING? Next month, next year? I would be happy with ANY sign that parents care and I would gladly join in their efforts to establish a solution. I would simply do it #ForTheKids...
